Quiet Business at Call To-day. BREWERIES UP. Firm but quiet conditions prevailed on call to-day and the recorded turnover was small. South British Insurance were firmer on buyers’ offers 95s 6d. Dalgety and Company changed hands at £S 17s 6d, market closing 2s 6d either way. Goldsbrough Morts, cum dividend, were firm at 30s 3d, closing quotations Id on either side. Steady bidding characterised the last call of the week on the Exchange and a good list of sales was put through, covering fair ranges. South British Insurance, which rose sharply last evening with a sale at 965, had no quotation either way, but fresh business at the same figure was transacted after the call. New Zealand Insurance steadied after a recent decline, the market showing from 66s 6d to 675. In the banking section Commercial were firm between 15s lid and 16s. New Zealand Improved with sales ex div at 4 Bs, and more were wanted. The better return from King Solomon caused sellers to raise limits to 3s lid.
