LATE MRS M. S. GIBSON.
Mrs M. S. Gibson, Mho died recently, was one of the original settlers of Cheviot. She was born in Lancashire England, on August 19, 1855. being a daughter of the Rev Henry Pollinger. and left England for New Zealand in 1880 by the ship Waimate. She married the late Mr Joseph Gibson in ISSI W ith her husband, Mrs Gibson assisted for some years with the work of the Durham Street Church, her husband at the time being superintendent of the Sunday School. In 1887. Mr and Mrs Gibson moved to St Albans, M*here they still continued to support the church and Sunday School, M-hich in those days were situated in St Albans Lane. In 1893, M'hen the Cheviot Estate Mas cut up for settlement, Mr Gibson took up a section and his wife and family went there in 1894. Mrs Gibson took a keen and active interest in the affairs of the district and resided in Cheviot for practically the remainder of her life. Her husband died in 1926 and her eldest daughter, Mrs J. O. Chapman, died in 1931. Mrs Gibson is survived by three daughters. Mrs T. Wilkinson (Parnassus), Mrs B. E. Wilkinson (Domett). Mrs J. D. E. Winskill (Cheviot) and four sons. Messrs E. Gibson (Papanui), A. II Gibson and L. M. Gibson (Cheviot) and S. Gibson (Hororata). There are fifteen grandchildren. The interment took place at , the Homeview Cemetery, Cheviot, a large number of friends and relatives following the cortege to the graveside. The service at the graveside was taken iby the Rev G. Widdup. A large numl ber of M-reaths M-ere sent.
