PROSPECTOR KILLED.

Crushed by Falling Rock. (Special to the “ Star.”) HOKITIKA, December 5. A accident occurred yesterday at W ataroa River, four miles from the Wataroa township, Donald O’Leary, a prospector, being killed by falling rock. O Leary was working at the claim when a heavy fall of rock occurred, crushing him. He was released by his mate. E. G. Silk, and placed on a litter, but he died at 3.30 p.m. while being carried out. The body was taken to Wataroa where an inquest will be held. O Leary, who was 60 years of age, had been engaged under the unemployed mining subsidy scheme since March. He was a widower and leaves one son, who is in the Post and Telegraph Department at Tuatapere.
