“THE BROKEN MELODY”

John Garrick Has Lead in Drama at Civic. For three reasons “The Broken Melody,” now showing at the Civic AllBritish Theatre, may be classed as outstanding entertainment: first the story, second the music, and third the excellence of the acting. John Garrick, who was so popular in “ Lily of Killarney,” heads the cast and is seen to even better advantage. His singing of the beautiful melody leaves a lasting impression. He is supported by Merle Oberon and Margot Grahame, both of whom give performances in keeping with the high standard of the production. The film is exceedingly dramatic and tells the story of a young composer and his tragic love for a heartless actress, whom he marries, but whose subsequent- conduct causes the husband to commit a crime for which he is sentenced to Devil’s Island. Box plans are at the theatre, where seats may be reserved at no extra cost.
