CITY ADMINISTRATION.

Decisions of Christchurch Council. The Christchurch City Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr I>. G. Sullivan. M.P., presiding. The recommendation was adopted. Purchase of Land. The Finance Committee reported that an offer had been received from Mr R. C. Kinvig to sell to the council for the sum of £IOO, ten acres of land on the North New Brighton Beach, for the purpose of three planting. The Reserves Committee recommended that the land be purchased. Supply of Tar. The Water Supply and Works Committees reported that two tenders only had been received for the supply of tar as follows: Christchurch Gas Co.. Sd per gallon; Shell Co., of New Zealand, Ltd., road oil in lieu of tar £7 4s per ton Plus 5 per cent sales tax. This worked out at slightly over 8. Id per gallon. The committee recommended the acceptance of the Gas Company's tender. The recommendation was adopted. Queen Street Playground. The Reserves Committee reported that £25 had been provided on this year’s estimates towards the cost of conveniences at Queen .Street playground. The balance of the money required would he provided from the unexpended portion of the sanitary kan. These conauthoritv was asked to call for tenders to proceed with this work as soon as possible. The authority was granted.
