Appendicitis Case on the Waitaki. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 3. The Union Company’s steamer Wai taki came at full speed into port from Wellington to secure medical attention for a steward who suddenly became ill on Sunday. The steward. Max Marshall, aged twenty-six, a married mail, suffered an attack of appendicitis about seven o’clock and when his condition became worse it was decided to increase the vessel’s speed. A wireless message explaining the situation was transmitted to Auckland and on the steamer’s arrival a doctor and an ambulance were waiting. Marshall, whose home is in Wellington, was taken to hospital, where an operation was performed. His condition is not serious.
