Rib of a Whale.
A N unusual find was made when workmen were excavating the foundations for new premises in Devon Street, New Plvrnouth. At the bottom of a shaft 20ft below sea level of a whole whale rib, measuring 3ft, was discovered protruding under the timbering of the shaft. Owing to risk in moving the timber it is not known how much of the skeleton remains. The find was made on the level of an old sandy beach.
