FINE ROSE SHOW.

Results in Cut Flower Section. OUTSTANDING EXHIBITS. Entries numbering 540 were received for the Canterbury Horticultural Society’s thirtieth annual rose show, which was opened yesterday by the president (Sir R. Heaton Rhodes) in the old Art Gallery, Durham Street. In the competitive classes there were over 200 entries. The two outstanding competitive classes were those for sweet peas and delphiniums.

The judges stated that it was many years since the standard of sweet peas here had reached the standard of those benched yesterday. The decorative classes also showed a distinct advance both in numbers and quality. The championship blue ribbon for the best rose in the show was won by Mr B. Penlington, with “Mrs A. RBarraclough.” The best delphinium in the show was Mr L. B. Hart's “Lady Eleanor.” A vase of sweet peas shown by Mr J. Moody was adjudged the best in the show. ! Mr W. Graham secured the award for ' the most points in the vegetable sec- ! tions. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes’s “Vesuvius”

secured the award for the premier ; single rose in the show. Most points in the children’s classes were secured by Miss Shona Watson. Additional results were:— CUT FLOWERS. OPEN. (Judge: Mr M. J.
