Mrs Douglas Macfarlane, Rafa Downs, North Canterbury, will arrive to-day to visit her mother, Mrs W. S. Bean, Beverley Street, Merivale. Miss Margaret Todhunter, Lake Heron, arrived in Christchurch yesterday and is the guest of Miss Elizabeth Acland, Chippenham, St Albans. Dr and Mrs John Guthrie, Armagh Street, who have been visiting the North Island, returned home yesterday. Mrs K. Cotter, Winchester Street, Merivale, returned home on Wednesday morning from a visit to the North Island. Dr and Mrs Charles Morice, Wellington, will leave in February for London, to join their daughter, Miss Constance Morice, who left for England early this year. At a meeting of the Canterbury Federation of University Women held last evening opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Mrs P. L. Mansell, Linwood, who will leave on Monday for England to spend a year's holiday. Mrs V. Utterson-Kelso has returned to Christchurch from a trip to China and Japan. She is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs W. G. Atack, Fitzgerald Avenue, and will later leave with her husband on a six months’ caravan tour of the North Island. Mr and Mrs J. V. Wilson, who arrived in Christchurch recently from Geneva, will leave next week on a motor tour of the Milford Track, the Southern Lakes and Eglington Valley. On their way they will stay with friends in Oamaru and Dunedin.

Mrs A. W. Wells, Masonic Hotel, returned home yesterday morning from a trip to Melbourne. Mrs W. Yorke, Christchurch, who has been visiting Mrs T. Renwick, Dumbree, Blenheim, has returned home. Mrs Harrison, Christchurch, is the guest of her daughter. Mrs R. T. Turnbull, Beverley Road, Timaru. Mrs Danby, Melbourne, is staying with her daughter, Mrs T. F. M. Gibson, Fendalton. Mrs John Deans, Kirkstyle, returned to Christchurch yesterday from a few weeks’ holiday spent at Lower Hutt. Mrs Bruce Douglas, Greta, will return home to-day from a visit to her mother, Lady Clifford, “ Avonholme,” Fendalton. Mrs IJ. Wilson, formerly of Bulls, who is the guest of her daughter, Mrs John Moore, Fendalton, will return home at the beginning of next week. Mrs D. Hitchings will arrive in Christchurch on Monday to stay with Mrs E. J. Cordner, following a visit to friends in the country. Mr and Mrs John Montgomery, “ Holmbrook,” Fendalton, and Mr and Mrs Geoffrey Kingscote, Fendalton, will visit Mr and Mrs J. H. Grigg, Longbeach, for the Ashburton races to-morrow. Mr and Mrs R. Templin, Heaton Street, who have been on a trip to America, will return to New Zealand shortly, arriving in Auckland on December 28. They are expected in Christchurch at the beginning of the New Year.
