TELEPHONE SERVICE.
Lower Toll Call Rates Approved. (Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Satisfaction with the action of the Post and Telegraph Department in reducing toll call rates, and making other concessions to telephone users, was expressed yesterday by Mr A. G. Lunn, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. He said that there were only two outstanding questions that requirecl decision by the department. The first was the review of the telegraph rates, which on its published figures were clearly costing the commercial community more than the old flat rate system. The second was the desirability of introducing machinery whereby subscribers desiring that their toll accounts should be paid weekly, and who were prepared to pay for that service, should receive their accounts weekly on request. The present organisation of the department apparently permitted only of the rendering of such accounts either monthly or, at a slight extra charge, daily.
