TRAFFIC LIGHTS.
To Be Lowered to a Height of Bft 6in. The traffic control lights at the intersection of Cashel and Colombo Streets are to be lowered to a height of approximately Bft 6in above the street level, and will be moved closer to the posts. A proposal was made that the lights should be lowered to a height of 7ft 6in. but it has been found that that would be too low. It is probable that the work of lowering the lights will be carried out on Mondav, and while the work is being done the traffic at the intersection wiii be controlled by an inspector. At present the ligtos are nearly 2ft out from the posts, bm they are to be moved to the edges of the posts. It has also been decided by the Bylaws Committee of the City Council that the lights be switched off at midnight on Saturdays until 8 o'clock on Monday mornings, as a trial.
