MISS D. ROUND SPEAKS.

World Champion and Sunday School Teacher. (Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Lady tennis champion of the world. Miss Dorothy Round, who also is a Sunday School teacher, addressed a large gathering of Auckland Sunday School teachers at the Sunday School Union Hall last night. With her charming personality Miss Round quickly endeared herself to her audience. “ I can count on the fingers of my two hands the number of times I have spoken in public,” Miss Round said. “ I once saw in a newspaper that I was a talented speaker, but I do not believe everything I see in the papers. It must always be remembered that I am on a trip to play tennis and not to conduct a tour.” Miss Round was welcomed by various officials of the Auckland Sunday School Union and also by the DeputyMayor (Mr A. J. Entricanf. a former) president of the union. Miss Beryl Knight, a prominent Auckland tennis player and a former president of the primary and junior department, and the Rev E. P. Blamires, Director of the Youth Department of the Methodist Church. “ By becoming lady tennis champion of the world and teaching Sunday School Miss Round may certainly be described as a good all-round girl,” Mr Entrican said amid laughter.
