SKULL IN GARDEN.
Missionary’s Aid Sought in Mystery Find. A medical missionary in South Africa jis being asked if he can help the ! Essex police to solve the mystery of a woman’s skull found in a garden at I Little Waltham, about four miles from ; Chelmsford. j The missionary lived in the house to j which the garden is attached for a few i years, until 1931. | Mrs Farmer, a former tenant of the ; j house, said that her dog found the skull in a neighbouring plantation and brought it into the garden. It was then buried, since it was obviously old. \\ hen the skull was unearthed by the present tenant, Mr F. M. Palmer, it was thought that it might be the i head of the victim of the Brighton i trunk murder No. 1. Police spent a day digging up the garden of the old Georgian house and three doctors were called to see the ; skull and other bones which were ; found. Most interest, however, was shown in the occupation of the missionary because the skull was so small that it might be that of a semi-civilised native. He is being asked if he ever disposed of such a skull in the garden. Any thought of the find having a criminal history has been put aside.
