CHAFF BURNT IN TRUCK.

About three tons of chaff were destroyed as a result of fire which broke out in a truck on the train from northern stations yesterday afternoon shortly after five o’clock. The fire was noticed by the stationmaster at Papanui when the train pulled into the station. The Christchurch Fire Brigade was called, and about half of the contents of the truck were saved. The waggon was not damaged.
