CO-OPERATION SOUGHT.

Railway Tradesmen and Officials. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 2. The biennial conference of the Railway Tradesmen’s Association opened this morning, Mr Leitch, the president, being in the chair. There was a full attendance of delegates. An address was given by Mr E. Casey, Assistant General Manager 01 Railways, who, *in declaring the conference open, expressed the wish of the j department for co-operation with the employees and the cultivation of a spirit of mutual confidence and mutual trust between administrative officials and other railwaymen. The annual report disclosed a satisfactory financial position and expressed gratification that the Government had acknowledged certin obligations in regard to the superannuation fund which would obviate further sacrifices by employees and superannuitants. Appreciation was also expressed of the 5 per cent increase in wages, and it was stated that further efforts would be made as opportunity offered to obtain further relief.
