CRASH IN GREECE.

Woman Flyer Forced Down in Bad Weather. MACHINE DAMAGED. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received October 2, 11.30 a.m.) ATHENS, October 1. Striking a tree and crashing, at Attica, Greece, Miss Freda Thompson's attempted record-breaking flight to Australia came to an abrupt end today. She was not hurt, but her machine was wrecked. Earlier in the day Miss Thompson had flown from Rome to Brindisi, and she was continuing her flight to Athens when the accident occurred. It appears that Miss Thompson did not allow for the difference of an hour between Brindisi and Athens times, thus being overtaken by darkness. Another report says that she landed, owing to bad weather, on rough ground. The machine is temporarily damaged, but she hopes to start again.
