One hundred and five passengers and the crew of the 1000-ton coastal steamer i New Bedford were forced to take to the lifeboats- on Sunday night, after I the ship struc.k a submerged object | sixty miles from here. The lifeboats reached shore safely | and the captain beached the vessel.
