PREVENTION OF CRUELTY.
The annual meeting of the ■of Cruelty to Animals was held last evening. Mr A. W. M’Gflltvray, chairman, read the annual report. The number of cautions administered showed a decrease of JOS, the total being 330. Stray animals admitted to the home numbered 59. Tn addition 64 animals were treated for complaints, while 260 animals were destroyed by the society's inspector. Subscriptions showed a small increase, but the continued expansion of the work called for additional income. Expenditure exceeded income by £43 2s sd. Tim patrons of the society are their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe. The office of president has been left vacant for the consideration of the committee. The following members of . the committee were re-elected: Mrs E. Poulton, Mrs S. P. Dalton, Miss F. Jones. Messrs 11. P. Bridge, C.. G. M’Kellar. Thomas Gee, J. O. Jameson, A. \V. M’Gillivray, Robert Wilson and F. A. Biggs. Mr H. F. Herbert was elected a member. The auditor. Mr C. K. Sams, was re-appointed; also the following honorary inspectors: Messrs J. R. D. Johns, H. M’lntosh and H. C. Smith. _________
