HANDICAPS.

Auckland Racing Club’s Meeting. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, October 1. Handicaps for the first day of the spring- meeting of the Auckland Racing Club, to be held on Saturday, October 13, have been declared as follows:

TROTTING CUP. Fastest Times of the 14 Candidates. Of the fourteen horses engaged in the New Zealand Trotting Cup, Indianapolis is a strong favourite, and provided he trains on satisfactorily until the day he is likely to remain so. It is too early to say whether he will be right at his best, but in the meantime his condition and his track work is all that could be desired. Blue Mountain is now trained by L. A. Maidens on his country course. Maidens thoroughly understands the Blue Mountain King gelding, and he has him in good order to receive a thorough preparation. Silver de Oro is bright and happy, and Sunny Morn has recovered from the mishap that prevented him from appearing at Addington in August. Glenrossie is trained at Ilutt Park and is pleasing his connections, but he has not been allowed to do any serious trials, it being too early to set him such tasks. Impromptu is under the care of his owner at Waikato, but in all probabilitay he will be given his final touches at Addington. He is a brilliant pacer, and has shown his ability over two-mile journeys. Mountain Dell is doing everything expected of her, and Rollo is bowling along at Addington as if he enjeys his work. Sir Guy* has wintered well and is receiving a special preparation. Lindbergh has built up since he last sported silk, and Roi l'Or is doing all that is required of him in his usual free style. Satin King is still on deck, but until something more serious is attempted little will be known regarding Satin King’s condition and soundness. Red Shadow and Harold Logan are models of condition, and both promise to go to the post fit to race for a kingdom. Harold Logan already has a number of friends for his third Cup. At this juncture Indianapolis and Harold Logan are the popular fancies. A table showing the fastest times recorded by the candidates is of interest. I 1
