PRISONERS SENTENCED.
Probation Granted in Forgery Case. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., July 25. In the Supreme Court, Sidney Harris, aged 38 years, a bushman, of Rangiwahia, was admitted to twelve months’ probation on a charge of forging and uttering a cheque for £lO 4s 2d at Kimbolton. Counsel said that the offence was due to drink. Part of the proceeds of the cheque would ultimately have come to the accused. Robert James Grinlinton, aged 37 years, an insurance agent, of Woodville, on charges c-f fraudulently converting to his own use £4 17s 5d and £*33 §s lid, changed his plea to guilty. Pie was admitted to probation for two years. Hemara Ploteriiii, aged 40 years, a labourer, who pleaded guilty to charges of attempted rape and indecent assault, was sentenced to twelve months’ probation. Evidence was given as to the accused’s good character, and the Judge said that the case was not so bad as it seemed.
