GREYMOUTH TROTS.

Two-Day Fixture Will Open To-morrow. LIKELY CANDIDATES. There is every prospect of the Greymoutli Trotting Club enjoying a successful winter meeting. The fields are of convenient size, and the calibre of the horses engaged should inspire confident betting from many stables. It is only necessary for the popular four furlongs dirt circuit to be in good order to make the meeting a memorable one both from a financial and racing point Of view.

Several very* promising pacers will assemble for the Introductory Handicap, and it will be interesting to see which of them is made favourite. Insolvent’s Ashburton form should encourage many to support him. and De Soto’s friends are certain to favour his chance. Don Wrack, Embattle, Graham Direct, Lil Guy, Tray'is Pringle and Royal de Oro are capable horses, and in what appears a hard race to win Insolvent, De Soto and Travis Pringle may* go best.

Jacob and Survivor are likely to head the market for the Express Handicap, but can they beat Gav Crusader and Princess Onyx? The latter is a very capable two-year-old, but this will be her first race. It may be wise to expect Jacob, Survivor and Gay Crusader to be best backed.

For the Intermediate Handicap Blandford is likely to carry more money than Lynley de Oro, Irish Peach, Black Shadow and Superb. He is very well, but he will have to.be at his best to keep Black Shadow and Irish Peach busy.

The Winter Handicap is the principal event, and, although only seven horses are engaged, it should be a fine race. Betty Wrack and Encounter are much in the public eye, and they have- better credentials than Guyziah.

A number of the horses accepted for in the Maiden Handicap are also engaged in the. first race on the card. This race may suit Don Wrack, as it will be run over a mile and a half. Insol\*ent, Embattle and De Soto are a useful trio over twelve furlongs. 3.10 p.m. BOROUGH HANDICAP, of 105 sovs Unhoppled trotters; class 5 5 Two miles. Gay Crusader scr Ohinemutu 12 ... scr Sonoma 72 Rose Chenault scr Mother’s Boy 72 Survivor scr Sandy N. 96 If the course is in good order Mother’s Boy should cheer up his supporters in the Borough Handicap. Ohinemutu and Survivor may attract most notice of the others. 3.45 p.m. ADVANCE HANDICAP, of 100 sovs. Class 2.59. One mile and a quarter. L * s r s , scr Marvin Bingen scr Betty Wrack scr Ruin scr Great Thought scr Yankeeland scr Hard Words scr Should Betty Wrack be reserved for the Dash Handicap she should be favourite. Ayr Lass can go fast for a mile, so can Great Thought, Ruin, Marvin Bingen and Yankeeland. In the absence of Betty Wrack, Yankeeland, Marvin Bingen and Great Thought may be fancied.
