NEW GOLF LINKS.

Proposal Advanced by Geraldine Club. A meeting- of the committee of the Geraldine District Golf Club was held on Friday evening. Mr G. N. Feilden (president) presided. The New Zealand Golf Association wrote advising that its professional would be leaving for the south shortly and asked if the club would require his services for a few days. The secretary intimated that as the association desired to have a reply by return, he had referred the matter to the president and forwarded a reply, stating that there were insufficient players wanting coaching to warrant the club securing the services of a professional.—The letter was received and the action taken by the secretary was confirmed. The sub-committee appointed at the last meeting of the committee to bring down a report on the proposed new links reported as follow: “Mr Temple has offered the club a lease of SO acres of ground for thirty years at a rental of £25 per annum. The club would have the right to place what hunkers, etc., were required, and any buildings with the option of removing same at the end of the lease. In the opinion of the subcommittee this offer was a very generA professional, after having inspected the ground, said that there were great possibilities with the amount of land available, and n good nine-hole course of approximately 3000 yards could be laid down. In his opinion, all that was required for the greens was a light topdressing of seed and he estimated that an expenditure of approximately 30s a green would meet the case. No tees would have to be built up, so that the cost would again be very small. Members of the committee were confident that the question of finance could be easily arranged. After discussion on the report. It was decided to hold a general meeting of members on Monday. August 6, when the question would he derided. The sub-committee brought forward a recommendation that at the foot of each voting paper members should say whether they were in favour of a 55 per cent or GO per cent majority to carry the proposal.
