Marconi’s Invention to Aid Fog Pilotage. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph Copyright. LONDON, July A. The Rome correspondent of the “News Chronicle” says that Marchese Marconi has successfully completed prelim inarv experiments with his new ‘.radio beacon,” an instrument designed to prevent sea collisions. It will enable vessels to be piloted through fog. The instrument transmits microwaves from land to ship which operate lights and bells indicating the presence of other craft and giving the exact distance between the two vessels. The instrument can also be applied tfo aircraft. TELEVISION BROADCAST. BRISBANE, July 22. The owner of an experimental wireless station at the Observatory Tower, Brisbane, has been granted permission by the Federal Government to broadcast television programmes. This will be the first attempt of its kind in Australia.
