“ The Poor Rich ” and “ 42nd Street.”

A first-class programme is offered at the Crystal Palace this week. The major attraction, “ The Poor Rich,” is a comedy rich in laughter-making situations. “ 42nd Street.” which is screened in support, is a bright and spectacular musical show. “ The Poor Rich ” concerns the once-wealthy Spottiswoods They return to the family estate to find it in a state of dilapidation. They are expecting Lord and Lady Featherstone and their daughter, who are reputed to be extremely wealthy. But as the plot unfolds the visitors explain that they haven’t a “ brass farthing to their name.” The many amusing situations give the stars. Edward Everett Horton and Edna May Oliver, plenty of scope to exhibit their clever comedy team work. Others in the cast who participate in the humorous situations are Andy Devine Leila Hyams, Thelma Todd, John Miljan, E. Clive and Grant Mitchell. " 42nd Street ” is one of the brightest musical shows yet produced. Not only is the plot pne of strong situations, but. in addition, there are many catchy songs and clever dance ensembles Warner Baxter has a part that gives him full scope for his talents. As the hard-working stage director, who wants to produce the “ show of shows,” he keeps the play moving all the time. Bebe Daniels also appears to advantage. These two films provide one of the best entertainments seen in the city tor a long while
