Performance by Madame Gower Burns’s Pupils.
The members o€ the Workers’ Educational Association enjoyed on Saturday evening a recital of selected songs by Madame Gower Burns and her pupils. Mr G. Manning introduced the performers and after the concert thanked them on behalf of the audience. Items given included:—Part songs, “Aspiration” and “The Dance” (Elgar), the
class; solos, “Humility” (Schumann), Miss Rae Cuff; “Star of Eve” (Wagner), Mr John Dunford: “Maid” (Bennett). Miss Ohristabel Bowen; part songs, “Lullaby” and “Happiness” (Schubert), the class; solos, “Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind,” Mr John Dunford; “The Azra” (Rubenstein), Miss Rae Cuff; part songs, "The Wind and the Rose” (Franck) and “The Wind Blows in From the Sea” (Smart), the class; solos, “My Dearest Heart,” Madame Gower Burns; “To Enid,” Mr Ernest Rogers; duet, "Venetian Boat Song” (Tosti), Madame Gower Burns and Mrs Ann Harper; part songs, “Where the Bee Sucks” and “It was a Lover and his Lass” (arr. Morley), the class.
