MORE EARTHQUAKES.

Another Bad Shake in Pacific. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, July 21. Following the report of two major earthquakes, one in Panama and the other in Soloman Island, both being attended by heavy damage, Mr Shaw, the noted seismologist, has- recorded another earthquake of considerable intensity with an epicentre apparently 10,300 miles from England. The locality is the New Hebrides, New Caledonia or Tonga, though possibly it is in the Solomons. The first shock was recorded at 7.39 a.m. and the seismograph needle was still moving at 10 a.m. Mr Shaw expects that a tidal wave will follow the ’quake.

Mr Shaw registered another fairly strong shock at 12.30 p.m., about GOOD miles from England. He said that there have now been six big shocks within three and a half days. He said that he did not remember any previous instance of so man}’- shocks in such a short period. - GREAT UPHEAVAL. Sydney Seismograph Records Quake. (Received July 24, noon.) SYDNEY, July 23. Continued earthquake shocks have been recorded at Riverview Observatory since the severe disturbance last Thursday. The seismograph became violently agitated at 4.23 on Saturday afternoon and the records are stated to indicate an upheaval as great as any which has previously occurred. The centre of the disturbance is estimated to be 1930 miles from Sydney, in a north-westerly direction.
