TRAMWAY BOARD.
Templeton Bus Contract Renewed for Year.
The Christchurch Tramway Board met this morning. Present: Mr E. J. Howard, M.P. (in the chair), Mrs Elizabeth M’Combs, M.P., Messrs C. E. Jones, W. J. Walter, E. Parlane and G. T. Thurston.
The report of the Works and Traffic Committee stated that the Templeton bus contract had been renewed for a year. The clause was approved. It was reported that a deputation from the Returned Soldiers’ Association, which was to wait on the board this morning in connection with subsidising work, Avould wait on the next meeting of the board.
“ The present position respecting quality and prices of lubricating oils having been investigated appears to be satisfactory.” This clause in the report of the Works and Traffic Committee was adopted. Mrs M’Combs expressed satisfaction at the decision to lift and repack the tramway track, between the Cashmere School and the Sign of the Takahe. Advice was -received that the City Council had approved of the Works and Traffic Committee’s suggestion that a safety zone should be installed opposite the Post Office, but asked the board to share the expense. The chairman said that the matter was in the hands of the Rev. J. K. Archer.
