CENTENARIAN IN FIRE.

SYDNEY, July 20. A message from Bourke sav that Bourke’s most picturesque figure, Gul Mahomet, an Afghan reputed to be 109 years of age, fell into the fire while asleep at his home to-day. He was too weak to help himself but a friend, Dye Khan, who is about eighty years of age, rushed into the room, dragged the centenarian from the fire and managed to beat out the flames Mahomet, however, died in hospital.
