“MAE WEST” IN TOWN.

NEW HATS ARE DISTINCTIVE. M’ELWEE’S NEW ADDRESS. The famous film star has given her name to. a new and distinctive range of spring hats, and these are showing at Mrs M’Elwee’s temporary salon, opposite Frank A. Cook, Ltd. Customers will please enter by the stairs that lead to Beattie’s toilet salon. When the new State Theatre is completed, on the corner of Gloucester and Colombo Streets, M’Elwee’s will open there in a new and entirely “ different ” setting. There’s a delightful change in the millinery styles for the spring of 1934, and M’Elwee’s have some charming hats on display at present —recent arrivals from noted ateliers. The new pastel felts and the new straws are intriguing, and the styles are refreshingly accommodating to the various types of wearers, whilst the range of colours makes this showing very attractive indeed. There are styles that are decidedly daring, hats to please ladies with an appreciation of dainty smartness, and dignified beauty for those who ljke to wear “ the latest ” without being too dashing. In \ r iew of the Grand National outings in the course of a few weeks, there is sure to be displayed a keen interest in this authentic showing, and ladies are cordially invited to make their inspection early. Temporary salon: Upstairs, opposite Frank A. Cook, Ltd., Colombo Street. 6
