SMITHY’S DENIAL.
Says Plane Has Not Failed to Satisfy Customs.
United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDN'EY, July 19. . Sir Charles Kingsford Smith*; categorically denies that his Lockheed Altair monoplane, which has been banned by . the authorities, has failed to satisfy the Customs Department, that he had failed to secure a certificate from the. American Chamber of Commerce, and that he had landed a foreign machine that did not comply with the requirements of the International Convention of Air Navigation. In the meantime Sir Charles’s participation in the Centenary Air Race is in doubt.
