NEW LEGISLATION.
Government Programme is Weil Advanced. (“Star ” Parliamentary Reporter ) WELLINGTON, July 20. Contrary to popular lobby belief, the Government is quite well advanced with its immediate sessional programme, and a further batch of important Bills will be presented to the Blouse next week. Satisfaction with the progress made with Government measures already before Parliament was expressed by Mr Forbes this afternoon, when announcing that among the Bills to be introduced next week would be the Finance Bill dealing with a variety of items, a policy measure providing for the permanent establishment of fouryearly Parliaments in New Zealand, and a comprehensive amendment dealing with mining questions. Another Bill ready for presentation, he added, was the Slaughtering and Inspection Amendment. In reply to a question, Mr Forbes said that the date of the introduction of the Budget had not yet been fixed. The presentation of the Financial Statement was still some distance away, but there would be found in the Government legislation now ready for submission ample to occupy the attention of the House in the meantime.
