U.S.A. DEBATERS.

Students to Arrive in N.Z. on July 28. Per Press association. DUNEDIN, July 17. Advice has been received by Mr M. Joel (president of the New Zealand University Students’ Association) that the team of debaters from the University of Washington (U S.A.) will arrive at Auckland on July 28. After holding two debates at Auckland, they will travel to Wellington, arriving there on August 3. The team’s next engagement is at Christchurch, which it will reach on August 8. Finally it will arrive at Dunedin on August 17. The members of the team are Messrs Robert K. Burns (an economics student) and Lyle M. Spencer (philosophy). Among the subjects to be debated are: “ That the U.S.A. should agree to the cancellation of inter-Allied war debts ” and “ That the political salvation of the world lies in dictatorship rather than in democracy.** The members of the team will also give short lectures on various subjects of interest, including “ Roosevelt’s ‘ New Deal ’ in America.”
