RUSH OF DEPUTATIONS

Changes in New Tariff Desired. (“Star” Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, July 16. Wednesday will see the beginning of the big rush of deputations which will wait on Mr Coates to urge changes in the new tariff. Already two appointments have been made for that day, and on Thursday another six deputations will be heard. Importers of beer are first on the list for Wednesday, with representatives of door-makers coming behind them. The first thing next morning, the piano trade will put its case to the Minister, and in quick succession he will hear representations of gas companies, horticultural traders, nail manufacturers, neckwear makers, and finally the motor trade. These are ail the deputations notified so far, but it is likely that in the next three weeks at least fifty different organisations will wait on the Minister.
