Charged with the theft of a bicycle valued at £2, the property of Frederick Joseph Robinson, on July 10, a man named John Beattie Beggs, 35 years of age, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. He was fined 15s and costs, in default two days’ imprisonment, for cycling without a light, and 10s and costs, in default two days’ imprisonment, for casting offensive matter in Manchester Street.
