MISS JEAN BATTEN.
Reception in Square on Saturday. ARRIVAL ABOUT MIDDAY. Arrangements are being made for a public reception to be given to Miss Jean Batten in Cathedral Square shortly after noon on Saturday. Miss Batten will appear on the balcony of the United Service Hotel and will be welcomed to the city by the Mayor, Mr D. G. Sullivan. M.P.
It is expected that Miss fatten will arrive at the Wigram Aerodrome about half past eleven o'clock. She will bfe welcomed at the aerodrome bv Mr J. Leslie, chairman of" the Paparua County Council, and Mr J. C. Guinness, president of the Canterbury Aero Club. Miss Batten will then be motored to the United Service Hotel, and soon after her arrival will make her appearance on the balcony of the hotel.

WELLINGTON, July 2.
Miss Jean Batten will begin an aeroplane tour of the South Island on Friday, visiting Blenheim, Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin, Oamaru and Invercargill, returning to Wellington on July 20. The following is her itinerary: July 6, at Blenheim; July 7,8, 9, 10, at Christchurch: July 11 and 12. at Timaru; July 13, 14, 15, 16, at Dunedin; July 17, at Oamaru; July 18 and 19. at Invercargill; July 20, 21, 22, at Wellington.
