Canterbury Club’s Annual Meeting. OFFICERS ELECTED. The fifty-first annual report am? bal-ance-sheet of the Canterbury Bowting Club were presented at its annual meeting last evening. Mr F. J. Barlow presided. The report stated that there was a further drop in membership, but present indications were for a substantial increase. The report referred to the deatli of Mr R. Nash. The elderly bowlers’ day had proved a red-letter day for the ninety players taking uart. The thanks of the club were due to Messrs F. J. Barlow and E. A. Simmers for donations, and also to Mr Simmers for the handsome jubilee honours boaref presented by him. The greens reflected credit upon the superintendent and the groundsman. The financial statement showed a debit balance of £35 25s £>d. The Arthur Rose Cup. played for annually, was won by the Canterbury Club by a small margin. The match Is played annually between the Canterbury Club and the Ellesmere Subcentre. The annual match for the Bullock Lode Cup, between the Licensed Victuallers* Association and the Canterbury Club, was won by the latter by 138 to 120. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Prizes won during the year were presented by Mr K. A. ‘Summers. Barrington Club. The annual meeting of the Barrington Bowling Club was held recently. Mr S. J. L. Hewitt presiding. The report and balance-sheet, which disclosed a good credit balance, were read and adopted. The president then presented the trophies won during the year as follows: Champion singles. H. C. Lane Cup, H. D. Joseph; champion pairs, Paterson and Cooke: clutmpion rinks. Joseph. Hennessey, Ryan and Sandford; handicap singles. Piper Cup. J. Elliott: handicap pairs, Hewitt Buttons. The sixth annual meeting of the Elmwood Bowling Club was held* last evening. Mr A. Syme presiding. The annual report stated that steady progress was being made towards putting the club’s finances on a sound footing. There was no prospect of reducing the amount owing to the City Council. £291 8s 4d. To meet all expenses and commitments each year, twenty more members would be required. The Social Committee had raised £42 3s 6d. The treasurer, Mr H. E. Smith, pointed out that the club could not count the pavilion an-* green ns assets, as they were the *erty of the City Council.
