“FOOLISH REGULATION.”
Statement of Motor Drivers’ Ages. Although men do not mind havihg to state their ages every year, when applying for their drivers’ licenses, women do not like it. | This was the opinion expressed by Councillor C. G. M’Kellar at the meeting of the Riccarton Borough Council last night. It was a foolish regulation, he continued, for the only'ones who \ ere interested in the applicant's age and the only ones who ever saw the details were the local body clerks. He thought that all that should be necessary was for the applicant’s age to be filled in as “over fifteen.” As a result of Councillor M’Kellar’s tatement the Mayor (Mr 11. S. S. Kyle, M.P.) was asked to take the matter up with the Transpo . Department in Wellington, and the Town Clerk (Mr R. Sarjeant) was given instructions that in ft ? applicants would be asked only Y~,. over fifteen years of age_.
