Business has been quieter on the Stock Exchange since Tuesday, ana there was only moderate trading yesterday afternoon and this morning. The lack of interest among buyers l is still the dominant feature. In the banking and insurance sections sellers are offering scrip for most issfos, and for Commercial Banks they are asking 16s od. while buvers dropped back this morning to 16s id. Bank of New Zealand quotations are unchanged at 50s 6d ana 31 g Among the best industrials the firmness in sellers’ quotations caused n temporary casing in business Little Government scrip was available this morning, and the demand remained unsatisfied. Improved business was evident at the noon call, when mining shares and Government stocks were in demand. Talisman buyers increased their offer. This morning it f Art nml now it is 11s 2d. Government securities sold as lush as £lO9. This was for 1955 4 per cent bonds, an increase of 10s on the last sale There was also a transaction at £IOS 12s 6d. Others also show a hardening tendency.
