Good Entries for Winter Show. (Special to the ‘‘Star.”) ASHBURTON, June 11. The Ashburton Winter Show will be held on June 21 and 22. Entries have been coming in freely, all sections being well patronised. The entries were to close on Friday evening but good support is expected from Christchurch exhibitors who competed at the show there at the end of the week, and the closing date for entries has been extended to Tuesday. Wrestling.

There was a good attendance at His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday night when the Ashburton Wrestling Association staged a bout between Dr Meyer and Rene Michot The bout ended in a draw, each man securing one fall. In the fifth round the Frenchman was successful with a dump and body press, and in the seventh round the American evened matters with a fall after a series, of headlccks and a body press. In the preliminary events D. P. Williams (8.10) secured a fall over T. G ‘Faass (9st) ; A Lynn (10.1) and G. Kellv (10 4 > drew with one fall each; C. A. Voice (113) beat J. S. Scott (11.0) with two falls, and the bout between F. T. Brooks <9.12) and T. Tarbotton (lOst) ended in a draw. Basket ball.

At a meeting of the Ashburton Bas-ket-ball Association. Mr R. J. Thompson presiding, permission was granted High School to play Timaru and Christchurch Girls’ High Schools, and St Stephen’s to play Tai-Tapu on June 23. Technical High School was granted permission to play Timaru Technical School on June 27. An invitation from the Canterbury Association to play two Canterbury teams in Christchurch on July 28 was accepted. The Timaru Association was invited to send two teams to Ashburton on August 4. Messrs Thompson and S G. Macfarlane were appointed coaches and selectors of the representative teams. Found Injured. A middle-aged man, Martin Houlihan, of the Mayfield district, was picked up in East Street, near the railway station, on Saturday evening, suffering from head injuries, snd was admitted to the Ashburton County Hospital. His condition this evening was reported to be satisfactory.
