COUNTY COUNCILS.
New Chairmen Elected To-day. At the annual meetyigs to-day county councils elected chairmen for the ensuing term. The Paparua Council re-elected Mr James Leslie. This makes the twentyfourth year that Mr Leslie has held office. In other districts elections resulted. Ileathcote—Mr Charles Fla veil. Ashburton—Mr D. J. Morrow, of Monalto, was elected chairman of the Ashburton County Council. The retiring chairman (Mr J. Moore) was also nominated, and the voting being five all, the candidates drew lots.
