“PURPLE PATCHES”
The Canterbury College Students’ Revue, to be held in St James Theatre on May 8, 9. and 10, should prove to be a very popular show. The radical change in presentation this year typifies a motion picture production in that the first half, opening with a chorus supported by a very attractive ballet, consists of a series of ’‘shorts” presented by the “Houses.” The principal play, “Purple Patches,” from which the revue gets its name, takes up the whole of the second half. This production introduces the purple patches of history, commencing with the burning of Rome while Nero fiddles, and including Henry VIII. choosing his last wife, Guy Fawkes blowing up the Houses of Parliament, Rasputin’s murderous machinations (in which scene nobody survives) and Don Juan’s flirtations with Spanish senoritas. Reserves may be obtained at the D.I.C. and day sales at St James Confectionery, Queens Confectionery and at the Students’ Union Office.
