SAVAGE CLUB.

New Great Chief Installed at Korero.

The Savage Club opened Its season on Saturday evening, when, before a large muster of savages, the newly elected Great Chief Savage H. H. Hanna, was installed by ex-Great Chief Savage H. M’D. Vincent. The programme, a thoroughly enjoyable one, was enthusiastically received. Savage Harold Beck, the musical conductor, had a fine band of instrumentalists, and the items rendered brought forth rounds of applauee. Suppe’s well-known overture, " Morning, Noon and Night,” was full of brightness, whilst ” Tout Vienne," a charming waltz melody by Strauss, received a nice rhythmic swing. Other numbers were “Exalted Ruler" (Hall) and “Soldiers' Chorus,” from “ Faust.” A popular item was the singing by Messrs C. Harbutt. L. M’Callum, K. More and F. Miller of ” Way Down the Cornfields " and “ Annie Laurie.” the quartets being tastefully sung. The tenor soloist was Mr R. Samson, whose voice W’as admirably suited in “Kerry Dance” and* “ Bird Songs at Eventide.” A short and Interesting talk on ” Chrome ” was delivered by Savage H. M. Bannehr. Savage W. T. Dobbie’s piccolo solo, “The Wren,” pleased, whilst Savage W. Toomey's fine baritone voice was heard in " The Trumpeter ” and " Haere Tonu.” much expression being shown In Ills singing. A large number of new members were welcomed by the chairman.
