CONVERSAZIONE

Graduates of Canterbury College.

SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The annual conversazione of the Canterbury College Graduates’ Association and the Federation of University Women was held in the Canterbury College Hall on Saturday evening. Mr A. E. Flower, president of the association, and Mrs Flower and Miss Marion Reese, president of the Federation of University Women, greeted the guests. Mrs Flower wore a black silk velvet frock with the lower sleeves of cream lace in a leaf design. Miss Reese wore a brown lace frock with a beige lace yoke and a short crushed velvet coatee to tone. Other members of the committee were: Mrs W. A. C. Wacher (reseda green duchess silk with a darker green silk velvet coat), Mrs C. H. Perkins (ivory lace over ivory satin, with black silk velvet coat with a grey fox collar), Miss Ethne Tosswill (black satin flowered in gold and pale green, golden velvet coatee with a Medici collar), Messrs R. Hepburn, J. A. Henry and J. M. B. Crawford. The following guests gave musical items: —Professor F. Sinclaire, accompanied by Mrs Sinclaire; Mr A. S. Bell, Mr E. D. R. Smith, accompanied by Mr J. A. Johnston; and Mrs R. J. M’Laren, accompanied by Miss Bessie Pollard. Mr Flower welcomed the guests on behalf of the association and paid tribute to the way in which members of the Federation of University Women had assisted in making arrangements for the conversazione. The guest list included members of the Canterbury College Council, the teaching staff of the college, members of the Canterbury College Graduates’ Association, members of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Federation of University Women and graduands of the year. The guests of honour were Mr C. T. Aschman (chairman of the College - Council) and Mrs Aschman, Dr James Plight (Rector of the college) and Mrs liight, and Miss Doreen Might.
