TRAMPING CLUB REPORT.
Increased Men-bership and Work. An increase In membership Is -horn in the annual report of the Peninsula Tramping Club, which is to he presented at the annual meeting to be held next Tuesday. The report states that the club had arranged eleven tramps, including a picnic to Quail Island, ani had also attended ten mystery tramps arranged by the Railways Departm *nt during the season. The attendances had been good and proved that the efforts of the executive bad been appreciated. One of the most successful outings had been to Charteris Bay. where the club members were the guests of Mr Orton Bradley.* .* nother enjoyable day had been spent at the club patron’s (Sir R. Heaton Rhodes) grounds at Otahuna. Members had made good use of the hostels conducted by the Youth Hostel Association on the Peninsula and the West Coast and had reported favourably on the treatment received. The club's delegates. Mrs M. Houston and Mr S. r. Anderson, had .attended all tne Y.H.A. meetings. The committee had worked hard and attended many meetings and wished to place on record a. special vote of thanks to Mrs M. Houston for her valuable work. The membership had Increased and at April 30, 1934, stood at 36. all being i.nancia'. Several new members had joined for »he new season and six had resigned. Witn the new members the roll was close on 40. The drawing up of a set of rules had been left In the hands of the president (Mr S. C. Anderson) and these would be presented for the confirmation of members. The finances had been carefully looked after and the credit balance stood at £4 14s 3d.
