COLOURFUL DISPLAY

Chrysanthemum Show at Lyttelton. CHURCH FUNDS BENEFIT. A chrysanthemum show in aid of the funds of the Lyttelton Methodist Church was opened yesterday afternoon in the Excelsior Hall, Lyttelton, when a fine .exhibition of blooms was displayed. The standard of the entries was commented on by the Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester), who opened the show, and he also congratulated the -committee responsible on the results of their work. In connection with the show a salo of work was held and the well stocked stalls attracted many buyers. The stallholders were as follows: Work stall. Mesdames M.« J. .lory. A. Shuker. A. Webb, F. Zander, R. Norton and J. Davies; fancy stall, Mesdames A. IT. Fowles, J. Gaunsen and Mis s A. M’Auliffe; cake stall, Mesdames J. Jorv, E. A. Irwin and W. M’Ginty; sweets stall, Senior Girls’ Bible Class; produce stall, Mesdames W. Huston, .7. Seymour and C. Ellis; flower stall. Muss Gwen Glasson; novelty stall, Mrs J. T. Norton and. Miss Brown: refreshments stall, Mesdames W. T. Foster and L. Symonds and members of the choir; book stall, Young Men’s Bible Class; domestic section, Mrs F. Anderson. Misses A. M’Auliffe and N. Sluce we-c joint secretaries and Mr F. Colemar. was treasurer. The prize for the premier bloom in the show was awarded to Mi- J. Phillips for a Golden Dawn specimen. The judges were: Floral sections. Mr R. Nairn and Mrs A. Penrose: domestic. Mr W. Gower; sweets. Miss Lucy Smith: handwork, Mrs Colthart: drawing and writing. Mr F. A. Silcock: photography, Mr Douglas Jones.
