The tennis tournament at Eastbourne was continued to-day. M’Grath never settled down against Kirby’s topspin drives, and his backhand was bad. Kirby said he never played better. Everything went right with him. Bqussus was very steady against Crawford, but the Australian was superior in the last two sets. Results:— Men’s Singles. Quarter-finals. J. 11. Crawford (Aust.) beat C. Boussus (France), 1-6, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. V. G. Kirby (South Africa’ beat V. M’Grath (Aust.), 6-4, 6-1, 6-1. F. J. Perrv (Eng.) beat R. Miki (Japan), 6-2. '6-1, 6-2. Women’s Singles. Fourth Round. Miss E. Round beat Mrs Fearnley Whittingstall, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Miss Iv. Stammers beat Miss Dearman, 7-9, 7-5, 6-2. Mixed Doubles. First Round. Sharpe and Miss Dearman beat Hop man and Mrs Hopman (Aust.), S-6, 3-6 6-3. Second Round. A. C. Stedman (N.Z.) and Miss M’Alpine beat Kirbv (Africa) and Miss M. Ileeley (Eng.). 2-6, 7-5, 6-3. E. C.
