American Interests in Australia. United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, May 3. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr E Bui cock, announced that since Vesteys, Limited, had acquired the Angliss interests in Queensland they were considering the establishment of a modern plant for chilled beef production at Port Alma, costing £300,000. The two great American companies, Swift s and Armour’s, also had options over killing works in the north, apparently with a view to developing the chilled beef trade. Close observers were inclined to the belief that the entry of American companies into the Australian trade had a much deeper significance than the. “ imperfect Ottawa structure afforded,” added Mr Bulcock.
