COUNSEL PROTESTS.
Men Sent to Christchurch for Sentence. Per Pres* AsnoeisMoo. DUNEDIN, May 4 On charges of breaking, entering and theft from the residence of Mr Justice Kennedy. James Alexander Knox and Reginald Thomas Munro were committed to the Supreme Court at Christchurch for sentence, the police declining to reduce the charge to theft and thus avoiding the expense of sending them elsewhere for sentence. Counsel for the prisoners said it was wasting the taxpayers’ money to send the men to Christchurch after the Court’s strong intimation.
