FIRE AT ASHBURTON.

Small Damage Done in Tobacconist’s Shop. (Special to the " Star.”) ASHBURTON, May 3. Fire broke out in the front portion cf R. Pye’s tobacconist shop in Havelock Street about 8 o’clock last even ing. Smoke was noticed in the window by an adjoining shopkeeper, who forced the door open and extinguished .he fire with buckets of water. Damage to the extent of several pounds was done to stock, and the shop window was broken.
