WAIAU NOTES.

The committee of the Waiau Football Club held its first meeting on Saturday evening. Mr R. Bean presided over a good attendance of members. It was decided to open the season with a match between teams representing North and South, the arrangements being left to Messrs Hoslcing and Foster. The club has been fortunate in securing the services of Mr James Kirkland (Canterbury and West Coast representative and an old Merivale player) as coach. The tennis club is nearing the end of another successful season. Although not very successful in the Mander Banner competitions, members of the teams have benefited by their experiences, and should show improved play next season. The finals of the club tournaments are being played this week, and the winners will be presented with their trophies at the annual ball to be held next Wednesday.
